1. Introduction

In compliance with EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, 679/2016/UE), we provide you with the following information about the processing of your personal data on our website. Evareviews (“Evareviews, “we,” or “our”) takes our users’ privacy very seriously. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal information about you when you use our website, https://evareviews.com or subscribe to and interact with our newsletters.  (together, the “Services”).

2. What Information We Collect

When you use our website, we may obtain various types of information related to you and your use of the services. This may include information that directly identifies you such as your name, address, or contact information (this type of information may be called “personal information” or “personally identifiable information”). The information we obtain generally consists of information (1) you give us about yourself, (2) you give us about others, (3) automatically collected about your interactions with our content or ads on third-party websites or other media, and (4) we get from other sources.

a. Information you give us

We may ask you to provide information about yourself when you use the Digital Services. For example, to subscribe to one of our newsletters, you will need to give us an email address. You may not be able to use certain features if you choose not to submit the requested information.

You may give us information about other people, such as the name and email of a friend or contact with whom you want to share an article or the name and address of a gift subscription recipient. Do not give us information about others unless you are authorized or have their consent to do so. We will use their information for the purposes described in this Privacy Notice.

Our website automatically collects some information about your visit and use of our site.  This includes data such as the number and frequency of visitors, technical information about browsers and devices used to access the our website and information about crashes or other technical issues. Additionally, we and third parties may automatically collect certain information through automated means about your activities over time across our site as well as across third-party sites, apps or other media.   • Operators of third-party sites or apps, content distribution channels and platforms, voice-activated assistants or other devices and technologies when you interact with our site. The information we collect may include information about the content you view or access as well as your demographic information and information about your interests.
  • Third-party data suppliers such as data aggregators, data resellers, public databases and business partners. They may provide us with demographic information, information about your purchases, and other information that helps us learn about you and other users of the Digital Services.
  • We may receive information from Social Media Platforms, including your username, user ID, demographic information and other information, subject to the settings and privacy practices of the relevant Social Media Platform. We may obtain this information directly from the Social Media Platform or through plug-ins, integrations or applications.

The information we collect is used for a variety of purposes. They include:

  • Performing our obligations under any agreement between us and you.
  • Customizing Evareviews services to provide you with a richer, more relevant experience.
  • Conducting research including providing consumer insights and data to manufacturers, regulators, researchers and other third parties to help improve the marketplace.
  • Contacting you regarding your use of our site and matters that affect you, including to inform our testing, reporting and editorial, and consumer policy and mobilization activities.
  • Responding to your requests and comments and providing you with customer support.
  • Updating and maintaining the accuracy of your information.
  • Operating, optimizing and improving our services, including by conducting research and analytics.
  • Conducting marketing and fundraising activities, including providing information about products that may be of interest to you (including products and benefits from our business partners),  and managing sweepstakes and other promotional activities.
  • Providing others with your information for the limited purposes described in this Privacy Policy, as may be described to you when collecting your personal information, or otherwise with your express consent. 
  • Evaluating or conducting a potential business transaction.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of the Social Media Platforms that you engage with as we are not responsible for their privacy practices.
  6. Business Partners. We may provide your information to business partners including, without limitation, joint marketing partners and content sponsors, for various purposes. For example, we may partner with a third party to offer products on a co-branded, co-sponsored or cross-promotional basis that involves the sharing of information.
  7. Other Parties When Required by Law or As Necessary to Protect Our Rights. We may share your information as we believe is necessary or appropriate to protect, enforce, or defend our legal rights, the privacy or safety of our employees, users of our site or other individuals and entities, or to comply with or enforce applicable industry standards, law or legal process, including responding to court orders, warrants, subpoenas and other requests from public and government authorities.

5. Choice/Opt-Out

As a non-profit membership organization engaged in ongoing consumer product testing, news reporting and consumer advocacy, we often engage with consumers like you online and through other communication channels. Your feedback and involvement are critical to our work on your behalf.

We want to give you control over how we use your information. Here’s how to opt-out of receiving communications from us:

  1. Email marketing. You may opt out of receiving marketing or promotional emails from us by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link contained in such emails. 
  2. Co-Branded, Co-Sponsored or Cross-Promotional Offerings. If you choose to participate in a co-branded, co-sponsored or cross-promotional offering, the brand, sponsor or other third party involved in that offering may use your information for its own purposes, including advertising and marketing purposes. You must contact the relevant third party directly to exercise your opt out choices with respect to such party’s use of your information.
  3. Opting out of Geo-location Sharing 
    If your computer or device is equipped with GPS, connects with wireless access points or hot spots, or communicates through cell towers or satellites, then your computer or device is able to use these features to determine its precise geographic location. The geographic location will be transmitted to CR in real time in accordance with the privacy settings you have set on your computer or device, and will continue to transmit the information to us until you have updated your settings to no longer do so. 
  4. Cookies
    We or our service providers may collect tracking information through cookies. You can opt out of accepting cookies or disable them from your browser. The Help function on most browsers contains information on how you can set your browser to notify you before accepting cookies or can disable them entirely. If you opt out of cookies, you will not be able to take advantage of various features of the EvaReviews website that are available to other users. 

6. Security / Protection Of Information

We are committed to protecting your information. We have put in place physical, technical and administrative procedures designed to help safeguard and prevent unauthorized access and misuse of your information. When Consumer Reports transmits information over the Internet, we work to protect the information through the use of data encryption methods.

7. Non-U.S. Visitors

We operate our website from Australia but have servers in the United States. Any information we obtain about you in connection with your use of our website may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries. 

8. Children’s Privacy Rights

Evareviews is not intended for use by children, especially those under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.

9. Links to Third-party Websites, Mobile Apps or Other Services

Our website may contain links to websites, mobile apps or other services operated by companies not affiliated with Evareviews. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any non-Evareviews operated websites, mobile apps or other services and channels, and we encourage you to review the privacy policies or notices published by relevant third parties.

10. Changes to This Privacy Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time to reflect changes in our privacy practices or applicable laws. In accordance with applicable law, we may make such changes without prior notice. We will publish the updated version  and indicate at the top of the Privacy Notice when it was most recently updated. Your use of this website will be governed by the then-current version of the Privacy Notice.
